Why upgrade now
Drupal 10 reaches end of life on 9 December 2026. From then on, security problems found in Drupal 10 core are not fixed, and module maintainers move their effort to Drupal 11 and 12. Upgrading before the deadline is calmer and cheaper than doing it after a security advisory.
Drupal 11 is a normal major-version upgrade, not a rebuild. If your site is on a recent Drupal 10 release with up-to-date modules, the jump is usually modest.
What the upgrade involves
- Read the site. We check your Drupal 10 version, every contributed and custom module, the theme, PHP and database versions, and the hosting. Nothing on your site is changed.
- Fixed price. You get one price for a written scope within 2 business days.
- Prepare the platform. Drupal 11 needs PHP 8.3 or later, Composer 2.7 or later and a current database. We update these first, or tell you exactly what your host needs to change.
- Upgrade on staging. Update to the latest Drupal 10, replace or patch modules without a Drupal 11 release, fix deprecated code in custom modules and the theme, then upgrade core.
- Test. Forms, logins, editorial workflows, search, views and any integrations, on a copy of your site.
- Release. Fresh backup, deploy, check, and a short note of what changed. A rollback plan is ready before we start.
Included
- Core, contributed module and theme updates for Drupal 11
- Fixes to custom modules and custom theme code for Drupal 11
- PHP and Composer updates where your hosting allows it
- Testing on staging and a supported release to live
- A written handover note
Not included unless agreed
- Redesigns or new features
- Content changes
- Rebuilding modules that have no Drupal 11 equivalent (we will tell you about these in the quote, with options)
Still on Drupal 7 or 9?
Drupal 7 and Drupal 9 are already end of life. Moving those sites is a migration rather than an upgrade. See Drupal 7 migration.
Questions we are asked
When does Drupal 10 reach end of life?
On 9 December 2026, the same week Drupal 12 is released. After that date there are no more Drupal 10 releases, including security fixes.
Will my site stop working on 9 December?
No. It keeps running, but any security problem found in Drupal 10 after that date will not be fixed, and contributed modules will gradually stop supporting it.
How long does a Drupal 10 to 11 upgrade take?
A small site with well-maintained modules can take a few days. Sites with custom modules, an older custom theme or modules that have no Drupal 11 release take longer. We give you the timescale with the fixed price.
Do I need a new design?
No. Drupal 10 to 11 is an upgrade, not a rebuild. Your content, URLs and design stay as they are, unless you want to change them.
Can you upgrade straight to Drupal 12?
Drupal 12 is released in the week of 7 December 2026. Most sites should move to Drupal 11 now, while modules are ready for it, and plan Drupal 12 later.
